Farewell Leslie Nielsen

It seems like only last week that I was writing a brief obit for another Canadian personality, Maury Chaykin ... and today is sad, because we farewell a Canadian legend, never mind a personality. Leslie Nielsen passed away at the age of 84, of pneumonia. He was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, in 1926, and and the first time I saw him he was on another planet ... a forbidden planet, in fact.

Across more than 40 years I saw him in more movies than I can count, but I'll always remember him as Buck Frobisher in Due South. The show's folk lore says that the film crew didn't even know how to lace Constable Benton Fraser's Mountie boots up right, till Leslie showed 'em how when he guest-starred in an early first season episode. Turns out, his dad had been a Mountie!

Farewell, Leslie Nielsen. You will definitely be missed by about three generations of movie and TV fans. Here's the whole story on IMDB, in far more depth than I could hope to approximate here.

Okaaay.. bukannya mengerjakan SP, tapi hari ini gw malah nulis blog .. ckckc.. 
Gw pengen mengenalkan ato lebih tepatnya mengenal lebih dekat satu sosok penyanyi  favorit gw, LENKA.. untuk pertama kalinya gw download semua lagu yang bersumber dari satu album dan satu penyanyi (iyyalaah...). I was falling in love for the whole album.. She's amazing!

seluruh keluarga gw suka sama lagu-lagunya dia.. my favourite song in this album was"we will not grow old" the song is sooooo coool.. belum pernah denger lagu enak dengan jenis musik kaya gini sebelumnya.. Adek gw suka sama lagu "anything I'm not" I know why she loves that song, lagu ini punya lirik yang bagus.. sama bagus kaya "we willl not grow old" tapi beda aliran.. maksud gw beda aliran tuh 'anything I'm not' lebih menceritakan bagaimana dia menggambarkan dirinya sebagai seorang cewek.. dia bilang dy punya banyak kekurangan dalam dirinya, bahkan kadang dia lelah untuk menjadi dirinya.. tapi dia sadar dia akan selalu menjadi dirinya, awalnya gw pikir lagu ini berisi keluhan.. haha.. tapi setelah gw denger berkali-kali, lagu ini isinya gmana cara kita menerima kekurangan dan kelebihan diri kita sendiri, bahkan kadang gw denger lagu ini kaya semangat. Semangat untuk bisa keluar dari semuanya yang dia pikir dia ga bisa. ada juga lagu yang bikin kita semangat lagi kaya "Bring me down", lagu ini juga ga kalah bagus.. Okay, back to the topic of the top, 'we will not grow old' juga punya lirik yang indah.. kayanya Lenka cerita gimana dia dan her 'special someone' punya mimpi tentang kehidupan mereka.. giaman dia percaya orang itu akan selalu menjaga semangat mereka untuk tetap n=meraih mimpi yang mereka cita-citakan, ohh so sweeet.. 

Oh iya, jangan lupakan lagu  'The Show'. "The Show", produced by Stuart Brawley, has been featured as soundtrack for an Old Navy as well as an Ugly Betty promo, the film Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging, and the 2009 Spring Campaign of the Polish TV station TVN, and was promoted as an iTunes Free Single of the Week. lagu ini emang baguuuuuuus.. bgt. gw sempat negerkomendasiin lagu ini ke bebrapa temen, dan mereka benar2 suka sama lagu ini.. 
ada lagi lagunya lenka yang cukup dikenal, "Trouble is A Friend" hmm.. nice song.. gw heran ada salah satu temen gw yang pernah mencela lagu ini.. ckck.. dia aja yang ga tau musik bagus, pake dicela segala. huh.. loh? hehe.. tapi ga usah dengerin dia.. lagu ini bagus. papa gw suka sama lagu ini.. (eh, jgn mikir ini lagu bapak-bapak ya?) tapi lagu ini emang sejenis lagu easy listening buat semua kalangan.. 
lagu yang menyenangkan lagi buat didengerin adalah 'knock-knock'. gw suka dengan ide dia. ko bisa kepikir ya bikin lagu dengan tema ini.. knock-knock kan bunyi ketukan pintu? haha.. hebat, disini dy cerita di menunggu pujaan hatinya datang buat bukain pintu buat dia..  "I need your smile" katanya.. (hmm.. gw tau gmana rasanya...) hehe.. indah sekali lagunya. 
ada juga lagu yang sedih.. judulnya 'like a song" hhuu.. suk sedih denger lagu ini.. mempertanyakan tentang kepergian pujaan hatinya.. dia seakan mempertanyakan pada dirinya pada dirinya sendiri. so sad.. but beautiful..  


masih banyak lagu-lagu lain yang ga kalah indah.. kaya 'Force of Nature' yang unik penuh misteri tapi easy listening juga.. hehe.. "dont let me fall" yang juga sempat dijadiin theme iklan di Canada. trus 'Live Like You're Dying" yang juga berisi semangat.. 
coba dengerin deh.. ga bakal nyesel dah dah download lagu-lagu itu. =)

Captain Jack ... what's in a name?

And apparently, when the name is "Captain Jack," there's a heck of a lot in it. In fact, I was very tempted to chuck all the images in here and say, "There, sort them out yourself!" But no. Would I do that to you? Well, I probably would if I didn't have the time to do this properly, but since I do...!

There's at least EIGHT Captain Jacks that I know of, and you could probably find someone out there who knows some more. But right now let's have a look at the eight of 'em. This gallant company starts with the one you probably know best, or second-best:

Mad Max 4: not coming soon to a theater anywhere near you

Mad Max 4 ... and it's not good news. With the movie delayed yet again, all cst announcements (or predictions, or inspired guesses) made in the past are void. If you check Sam Worthington's page at IMDB.com, you won't see a mention of Mad Max 4 there. [AG sighs heavily]

The reason for the current delay: Climate Change-1, Max Rockatansky-0.

Seriously. This ran on the ABC in October, and they were not joshing you:

Filming of George Miller's fourth Mad Max, Fury Road, has been postponed for a second time.

Production is now expected to begin in Broken Hill in 2012.

Accommodation provider Hugh Gough says he received an email from Kennedy Miller

Productions at the weekend informing him filming would not start in February as planned.

Mr Gough says no reason was given for the delay.

This is the second time the film has been delayed. In July, Kennedy Miller Productions said unseasonal rains had made Broken Hill too fertile.

If I had to make an inspired guess, I'd say Kennedy Miller will have to shoot around Sam Worthington's schedule ... no longer do you just give out your orders about when you want to shoot. He's a busy boy and a mega-star. That'll push the scheduling for the movie around -- and there's no guarantee you can get him in any case.

Also, you wait for Mama Nature to turn the Broken Hill region back into an iron oxide desert, if you want Mad Max to look like, well, like Mad Max. No good filming there, if it looks like Ireland! See what climate change is doing, and how real it is? Sheesh. Can't even make a movie without being sabotaged by fields of flowers in a region that oughtta look like the planet Mars.

And it's a real pity the delays have caused the cast to evaporate, because I could really believe Sam Worthington in this part...

10. Shall We Dance (2004)

               Huaaa.. I love to see Richard Gere dancing, hahaha.. He’s sooo charming.. huhu.. Walaupun sebenernya menurut gw  J-lo dan Richard Gere agak gak cocok.. (gapapalah ya.. sok tau dkit, blog gw ini... hehehe..)  tapi  film ini gw tonton berkali-kali dan ga bosen-bosen rasanya. So romantic. Adegan favorite gw pas Richard Gere muncul di eskalator buat nemuin istrinya sambil bawa bunga mawar.. bikin ngiri aja tuh adegan, dan adegan dansa Richard Gere sama J-Lo bikin gw pengen belajar tango >.<

9. The Holiday (2006)

              Kita bisa lihat macem-macem kisah cinta disini, Jude Law, Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jack Black, who can resist their charm?? Ms. Diaz n Kate Winslet bikin scene-scene terlihat lebih indah, hohoho.. apalagi Jude Law, hmm.. he’s cute.. =) ceritanya, aktingnya seger (kya buah aja seger?) tapi gw ikut senyum-senyum sendiri liat film ini.. one of the best recommended movies.. =)

8. The Duchess (2008)

          Beuhh.. ni film.. beautiful, sad, and heavy (heavy?) haha.. agak lambat alurnya di awal, tapi Ms. Knightly bakal bikin kita susah ngedip saking cantiknya, hehe.. (walaupun kadang dandannya agak menor menurut gw.. ). Film tentang ke’semena-mena’an laki-laki jaman dulu. Huh! Gw sempat benci bgt sama Ralph Fienn 

 Adegan paling sedih saat dia harus ngelepas anak nya ke keluarga jude Law.. hiks.. I can’t hold my tears...  Georgianna: “setiap usaha juga ada batasnya” Bess: “tidak ada batas jika itu menyangkut anak kita”

7. Le Divorce (2003)

For all the girls.. You all have to watch this! Jadi cewe musti kuat! Hmm...  berlatar belakang Suasana Paris, with their beautiful and grace women. Cerita ini tentang dua cewe Amerika yang sama-sama punya hubungan sama lelaki Perancis yang terkenal romantis. film ini oke banget buat jadi motivator. Don’t judge the book by its cover.. ternyata berlaku juga buat memilih pasangan. Hehehe...

6. 50 First Date (2004)
Film ini romantiiis abis!!!! gw jadi kepikir betapa besarnya cinta Henry buat Lucy.. he loves that woman just the way she is.. huhu... 

5. A Walk To Remember (2002)
Siapa si yang ga tau film satu ini? this film is everything, romance, sorrow, happiness, and love of course. Only Hope jadi terdengar begitu indah setelah kita nonton filmnya, hehe.. walaupun kadang gw ngrasa Mandy Moore punya akting yang agak lebay, tapi she's just look sooo cute... "Maybe God has a bigger plan for me than I had for myself. Like this journey never ends. Like you were sent to me because I'm sick. To help me through all this. You're my angel"

4. Armageddon (1998)
Bener-bener ga bisa meninggalkan film ini bahkan untuk ke kamar mandi. Hahaha... This film is romantic.. dari sisi keluarga dan kekasih (ga punya kata lain buat mendeskripsikannya, hehe.. ) Best movie, best acting, best screen play, best artist.. ah! everything..

3. Pretty Woman (1990)
 A very nice romantic film.. film ini punya ide cerita yang bagus banget. liat pemerannya aja udah deg-deg an.. apalagi liat filmnya, hehehe... two thumbs up!

2. Shakespeare In Love (1998)
Ah I looooooove this movie... baguuuuuuuuuus banget. "My lord" "My lady" huaaa.. entah kenapa suka banget sama panggilan kaya gtu.. indah gmanaaa gtu.. hehe... Film ini ppunya banyak quote lucu, bagus, plus romantis. Dengan latar belakang London abad ke 16, bikin film ini (beserta gaun-gaunnya) tambah romantissss....

Sebenernya pengen masukin beberapa film lagi. Tapi entahlah.. beberapa film yang menurut orang lain bagus keliatan biasa aja di gw... BEUHH.. (Gw nya aja kaga ngerti film) hahaha.. but at least, ini film2 yang bner-bener bikin jantung gw berhenti berdetak menadadak (halah)
